Please Adopt Us The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard would like to thank everyone, including the participants, their sponsors, and all the volunteers, who participated in the Walk for the Animals on Saturday, Oct. 17. Although the weather was a bit chilly it turned out to be a wonderful and successful day. A good time was had by all.

Our one feline resident is orange senior citizen Milo. He has seemed to blossom since entering the cat room. We have found that older cats quite often rejuvenate once they enter a loving home environment. If someone is willing to give Milo that chance the adoption fee will be waived for this sweet boy.

The Animal Rescue League of Boston’s spay and neuter wagon paid a visit to our shelter this past Wednesday. This is an invaluable service to Island residents who may not be otherwise able to afford this necessary procedure. Thank you to everyone who brought in their pets, and to all the volunteers for their help. The spay/neuter wagon will be returning again in November at a date to be announced, please check this column for updates.

Shelter hours are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thurs days and Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday and Monday.
