Members of the Island community have joined together again to organize the second annual After Prom Party.

The YMCA has donated their facility for the event, which will take place on May 16 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. The Youth Task Force and the After Prom Community have been working with organization and donations to create a healthy, drug and alcohol-free post-prom event.

The party is open to all juniors and their dates, and juniors who do not attend prom are also welcome to attend. The line-up of events includes a poolside deejay, karaoke, games and a live band, a Velcro climbing wall, movies and a bungee run. There will also be prizes and raffles. Juniors are encouraged to spend the night, and breakfast will be provided before a 5 a.m. pick-up.

The prom committee is still looking for donations to cover costs, and they are collecting prize donations of items desirable for 17-year-olds.

To donate or find more information, contact committee co-chairmen Rachel Araujo, 774-310-0027 or Debbie DeBettencourt, 774-836-6448.
