Tisbury police officer Jeffrey Day will be teaching a free hunter safety course over three days in May. The course will take place at the Martha’s Vineyard Rod and Gun Club on May 11 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on May 16 and May 17 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The class is open to those 10 years of age or older and there will be tests and homework. Students who attend all three days will receive a hunter safety course certificate from the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife. The certificate can be used to obtain a hunting license or as qualification for a firearms identification card or a license to carry firearms.
