Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lincoln Shugrue of Katama are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Hillary Greene Shugrue, to Daniel Paquette, the son of Hélène Valin of Montréal, Québec, and the late Gédéon Paquette. Hillary is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Donald J. Hurley of Quitsa Mooring, Chilmark, where the future bride spent her childhood summers. The couple lives in Marina del Rey, Calif.

A graduate of Tabor Academy in Marion, Hillary received a bachelor’s degree with honors in art history from Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and a master’s degree in fine and decorative arts from Sotheby’s Institute in London. She is an inside sales associate at Rose Tarlow Melrose House, the internationally renowned furniture and fabric design company headquartered in Los Angeles.

Daniel is a graduate of the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQÀM) with a bachelor’s degree in history and German. He is the director of economic affairs for the Québec Government Office in Los Angeles.

An April wedding is planned.
