The West Tisbury Congregational Church handbell choir has been quiet of late. For a year or so the bells have been silent, and many have wondered where the ladies with their white gloves, all standing in a line in front of their particular bells, have gone. But there is now talk of a comeback, of getting the band back together. New handbell blood has arrived on the Island, a pair of itchy white gloves ready to rock.

Her name is Hope O’Brien and she hails from Parker, Colo., where she directed the Parker United Methodist Church handbell choir for 15 years. She’s ready to take the lead here now, but she needs a group to direct.

On Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 5:30 p.m. there will be an organizational meeting at the First Congregational Church of West Tisbury. For more information, call Marsha Winsryg at 508-693-4059.
