Our family has enjoyed watching the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks play baseball for years. Our son, who is nine years old, particularly enjoys the games that the team organizes for children between innings. I watched our son hop in the sack race on Thursday, June 27, when the Sharks announcer proclaimed that one child “ran like an old Jewish man.” Such an ugly attempt at humor is particularly discomfiting at what purports to be a family-oriented event. Such announcing is not conducive to building a broad and inclusive fan base.
