The regional high school sailing team competed in the National Invitational Tournament last weekend, placing eighth of 10 teams. The team gained entry into the tournament after competing in the New England Sailing Schools Association championship races on May 17.

The competition, held at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and hosted by Manchester-Essex Regional High School, took place over two days and featured teams from across the country. Lake Forest High School, of Illinois, took first place with a 12-4 race record over the two days. The Vineyard posted a 5-11 record.

Juniors Anna Flaherty, Eli Hanschka, Charlie Morano, Ellie Reagan, Rasmus Sayre, and Zana Van Rooyen sailed for the team.

The sailors will compete for the Cape and Islands league title this weekend.
