In The Fish Bowl

The roster of the Cape Cod Bluefins for the inaugural Fish Bowl game against the Danbury Whalers at the Martha’s Vineyard Arena last month included a couple of familiar names: Max Sherman, varsity hockey assistant coach, and Mick Vukota, junior varsity head coach, who were introduced to rousing cheers from the Vineyard crowd. The two were signed to a one-day contract with the Bluefins, who compete in the A-level federal hockey league. Mr. Vukota is a former NHL player who spent 10 seasons with the New York Islanders in addition to playing for the Tampa Bay Lightning and Montreal Canadiens.

Mr. Sherman was making his professional debut.

The Bluefins played a well-fought game against the Whalers, but fell 4-3.
