Martha’s Vineyard Museum will host an open house at the former Marine Hospital/St. Pierre School property on Sunday, Dec. 11 from noon to 3 p.m. The open house will feature tours of select rooms, conversation and a community photograph. The Mansion House will provide refreshments.

The museum’s board of directors purchased the Marine Hospital property in September, with plans to upgrade the building and relocate from its Edgartown headquarters. “This is a great opportunity for the community to see the ‘before’ stage of the property,” said board chairman Sheldon Hackney. “With support from both old and new friends of the Museum, we will be able to get going on the ‘after’ stage.” The wood frame structure of the Marine Hospital dates back to 1895.

The Museum is open year-round, Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free to members; admission for nonmembers is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $4 for children 6 to 15 and free for children under the age of 6.
