There’s a lot growing at the Polly Hill Arboretum in West Tisbury and we’re not just talking about what comes up from the ground. Next week features three outstanding lectures by specialists in their fields.

On Tuesday, August 23, from 1 to 3 p.m. there will be an herbal tea tasting and blending workshop led by Holly Bellebuono of Vineyard Herbs. Perhaps you’ve seen her around the Island and at the farmers’ market selling her teas and salves. And perhaps you’ve thought to yourself, wow, she has a magnificent glow. Find out where this glow comes from and how you can acquire one too thanks to her knowledge of plants and their rejuvenating powers. The cost for this lecture is $45 or $40 for PHA members.

On Wednesday, August 24, beginning at 7:30 p.m. it’s a horse, or rather an amphibian, of a different color when Biff Bermingham, director of the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, gives a talk entitled From Giant Snakes to Disappearing Frogs: Tropical Biology in a Changing World. Mr. Bermingham’s talk will focus on some of the ongoing work scientists are conducting in and around the reefs and forests of Panama. The cost for this lecture is $10 or $5 for PHA members.

And finally on Thursday, August 25, from 10 to 11 a.m. PHA staff member Karin Stanley will give a talk entitled Landscape History at Polly Hill. This talk is free for members and $5 for nonmembers.
