Quartet Rocks on all Four Cylinders

Next Sunday, August 28, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Chilmark Church, the Boston String Quartet will present a concert entitled WorldSong. For those unfamiliar with the quartet they are the most unique of string quartets. Think that last statement is just hyperbole? Well, time to put your ears where your mouth is. Afterall, what other strings group blends zydeco, fiddle, salsa, bossa nova, and gypsy music. Word has it the performance will feature takes on Beat It by Michael Jackson, Besame Mucho, Oye Como Va, as well as some Bulgarian, Transylvanian and Taiwanese folk music arrangements.

But the group is not just committed to making beautiful music. The quartet also participates in multiple education tours each year, working with high school music programs in workshops, master classes, rehearsals, and performance.

Tickets for the concert are $15.
