Fiesta time! The Latin musical ensemble Sol y Canto brings their pan-Latin, bilingual, joyful and very interactive concert to Chappaquiddick on Wednesday, August 17, at 7:30 p.m. at the Chappaquiddick Community Center. Adults and kids alike are welcome.

Puerto Rican/Argentine singer Rosi Amador, New Mexican guitarist/composer Brian Amador, and their 15-year-old twin daughters, Alisa and Sonia, will perform after patrons enjoy chips, guacamole, salsa and even slushies at a meet-the-artists gathering prior to the concert, at 6:30 p.m.

The ensemble has three Boston Music Awards under their belts and a number of other distinctions — Mr. Amador is a MacDowell Artist Colony fellow.

Sol y Canto’s songs spring from diverse Latin roots rhythms, showcasing their renowned vocals, lush Spanish guitar and percussion, with some dazzling four-part vocal harmonies from the Amador family, who are regular performers at the renowned Regattabar Jazz Club in Harvard Square. Over the past 17 years, Sol y Canto has taken the stage at the Kennedy Center, the Newport Folk Festival, the Getty Center and the California World Music Festival.

Their latest CD, Cada Día un Regalo, was lauded by Billboard Magazine as “unfailingly inspiring The Amadors bring a tremendous virtuosity to their music. Rosi’s vocals are wonderfully evocative.angelic.”

Tickets at the door are $8 adult, $5 for ages 5 to 12, and free for those under five.
