By entering this contest, the entrant agrees to be bound by these rules and to accept as final all decisions of the judges appointed by the Vineyard Gazette.

  1. Eligibility. Open to persons 18 years of age or older who are legal residents of the United States. Teenagers under the age of 18 need parental consent to participate. No purchase is necessary. Employees and immediate family and household members of employees of the Vineyard Gazette, www.mvgazette.com, and/or the Martha's Vineyard Film Festival are NOT eligible to enter. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.
  2. Contest Period: To be eligible, contest entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. EST on Aug. 12, 2011. All submissions become the property of the Vineyard Gazette and will not be acknowledged or returned.
  3. How to Enter:
    1. You may submit a link to your film (on youtube, vimeo, your own site, etc.) to brian@tmvff.org. If you would prefer to send a DVD or disc with .mov .avi or .wmv file on it, you can send it to The Martha's Vineyard Film Festival, PO Box 592, Chilmark, MA 02535.
    2. All entries must include the name, address, daytime phone number, and email address, of the entrant.
    3. Questions about the contest or entry procedures should be addressed to circulation@mvgazette.com.
  4. Conditions of Entry:
    1. The web video and its contents must be original works created by the entrant, or works to which the entrant owns all copyrights. The entrant warrants there are no claims or liens with respect to the web video, including claims in connection with any music rights, and that its contents do not violate or infringe,on the rights of anyone else.
    2. No part of the web video may have been previously released commercially.
    3. Entrant warrants that he/she has sufficient permission of any recognizable persons appearing in the web video to be able to grant the Vineyard Gazette the right to publicly perform, distribute, publish and otherwise use the web video for commercial purposes either on-line or in any other media now known or hereafter developed.
    4. The web video may not contain any watermarks, time/date stamps, decorative borders or other types of overlays.
    5. By entering the contest, entrant agrees that the Vineyard Gazette has a non-exclusive, irrevocable right to use the web video, in any manner, an unlimited number of times, in any and all media now known or hereafter developed without compensation to entrant.
    6. The Vineyard Gazette reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to reject or disqualify any entries that are, obscene, defamatory, profane, offensive, false, misleading, deceptive or otherwise inconsistent with its editorial standards.
  5. Judging Criteria and Winner Selection:

    Judging Criteria: One Grand Prize winner will be selected from all eligible entries received prior to 11:59 p.m. EST on Aug. 11, 2011, by members of the Martha's Vineyard Film Festival appointed by the Vineyard Gazette and the Martha's Vineyard Film Festival based on the following criteria:

    1. Creativity and originality of the web video.
    2. Ability of the web video to encourage consumers to buy and read the Vineyard Gazette.
    3. Aesthetic quality and technical merit of the Web Video, including without limitation, lighting, editing and camera work.
    4. Any other relevant factors as the judges deem appropriate.

    If no qualifying entries are received, no prize will be awarded. If the Vineyard Gazette is unable to notify an entrant as set forth herein, it may at its sole discretion select a substitute entrant.

    Decisions of the judges are final and binding in all respects.

    Entries may be posted on the web site until the Grand Prize winner is determined. After the determination of the Grand Prize winner, entrants' web videos may be archived on the web site.

    Winner Selection: On or about Aug. 12, 2011 one entrant will be selected As the Grand Prize winner. The winner will be notified by phone or email.

  6. Prize.
    1. One entrant will win the Grand Prize and will receive the following:
      1. One Thousand and 00/100 ($1,000.00) Dollars cash award;
      2. Screening of the Grand Prize Winner's Web Video on Aug.17, 2011 at the Martha's Vineyard Film Festival's Summer Film Series in Chilmark, Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, or another date to be determined.
    2. The awarding of prize is contingent upon full compliance with these Official Rules
  7. Release:

    By entering this contest, entrants release and indemnify the Vineyard Gazette and its parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, agents, shareholders, officers and employees from any liability arising from or relating to participation in this contest.
