Please Adopt Us

This week our featured cat at the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is Karate — a really special black and white cat. He is a true lapcat, a short-haired neutered male with striking white paws and splotches of white on his face. He is very smart and gently hand-raised as someone’s pet. He is young — only a year old — and loves people. He loves to be petted but is a bit over-zealous with other cats so should probably be the only cat in the household. Won’t you please stop by the shelter and see him? We guarantee you will fall in love.

Our other beautiful cats that need homes so badly are: Misty, Binx, Faith, Socks, Fisher, Liam, Annabell and Ceilia, all black or black and white cats. Maxine and Rascal are beautiful tabbies; Chloe, Cupid and Butter are lovely brindle cats and Foxy Lady is a tortoiseshell.

We still have our adorable bunny Boo and Grace, the guinea pig.

The shelter is sponsoring a critter benefit on Wednesday, July 6, at the Lampost in Oak Bluffs. The doors will open at 9 p.m.; for a $10 donation, you will have the great pleasure of dancing to Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish, the Electric Highway Experience and Island Thunder with special guests Gordon Healy and his friend Don Groover. So make your way to the Lampost.

Shelter hours are Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday through Tuesday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.
