Please Adopt Us

All the staff and volunteers at the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard wish everyone a belated Happy Easter. We appreciate so much all the contributions — including money, food, blankets, toys and cleaning supplies — that people have made throughout the year. The shelter could not survive without your generosity.

We have two beautiful new cats available for adoption: Brown Bear, a really handsome chocolate brown Abyssinian/Siamese who is two years old and as gentle and loving as any cat we have ever had; and Snowshoe, a loving tabby and white female. We also still have Binx, the long-haired black kitty with long white whiskers who is an indoor female who needs a home so badly; Maxine, a lovely tabby; and Foxy Lady, a tortoiseshell.

We have a very special new bunny who is very well educated because she has been to college. Her owner took her with her when she went off to college but soon discovered that college is not the place for a bunny. Her name is Aphrodite and she has unusual coloring — mostly white with black and tan spots and tan ears. She loves people and loves to be petted. Please come and see her and also see our sweet little guinea pig, Grace.

Shelter hours are Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday through Tuesday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.

The shelter is located behind the Vineyard Vet Clinic on the Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road.
