Rev. Raphael Warnock returns to the pulpit at the First Congregational Church in West Tisbury as guest minister on Sunday, August 15. He has served as the senior pastor of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, Ga., since 2005. Rev. Warnock graduated from Morehouse College cum laude in 1991, and holds a master of divinity degree, a master of philosophy degree, and a doctor of philosophy degree from Union Theological Seminary in New York city.

As pastor of the spiritual home of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Rev. Warnock’s ministry and activism have been local, but his vision has always been global. He has received a host of fellowships, honors and citations, noting his abiding commitment to Christian ministry, disciplined scholarship and diligent struggle on behalf of the oppressed.

This will be the second visit to the West Tisbury church for Rev. Warnock, having been warmly welcomed by members and visitors alike in August 2009. The Sunday Service of Worship begins at 10 a.m. and everyone is welcome to attend.
