Interested in hearing more about wind turbines and noise? On Wednesday, July 28, there will be a work session on the issue to help the preparation of a Wind Energy Plan for Dukes County. The session is free to all and begins at 5 p.m. at the Martha’s Vineyard Commission (the Stone Building) at 33 New York avenue in Oak Bluffs.

The work session will begin with a presentation by Gregory C. Tocci, senior principal consultant with Cavanaugh Tocci Associates and a leading expert on wind energy noise. It will include a question and answer period as well as information on topics including what sounds are produced by wind turbines; when these sounds are considered to be noise; how this noise can be reduced or mitigated; and how wind turbine noise can best be regulated.
