The sixth annual African American Cultural Festival sponsored by the Cottagers, Inc. of Martha’s Vineyard will be held on Thursday and Friday, July 29 and 30, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Hartford Park in Oak Bluffs.

The festival will feature Cottagers’ history and a 50th anniversary retrospective of their fashion show, an exhibit from the Museum of African American History (Boston), an African American marketplace, mini talks on Haiti, jazz, and patenting your ideas, activities for children, nonprofit services booths, a belly dancing workshop, line dancing, and food by Chef Deon.

A Thursday evening talk by Harvard Professor Evelyn Brooks Higginbotham and an interactive presentation by Professors Lynn Bolles (University of Maryland), Dana-Ain Davis (Queens College) and Rosemarie Roberts (Connecticut College) in celebration of anthropologist/dancer/activist, Katherine Dunham on Friday will be held at Cottagers’ Corner, 57 Pequot avenue from 6 to 8 p.m. The festival is free and open to all.
