Ever wonder what to do with the riches earned at the summer lemonade stand? S.L. Hudson has the answer in her new young adult novel, Strike Zone, the Games of Baseball and Money. The book is both a coming of age story and a financial seminar for young earners. Hudson will be reading from her book and leading a discussion at Edgartown Books on 44 Main street in Edgartown, this Friday, July 23 at 4 p.m.

As a corporate trainer, the author frequently heard her adult students bemoan their lack of money knowledge. Hudson, who has a master’s degree in education from Harvard University, realized she too did not learn how to play the money game until almost near the age of retirement. This knowledge gap motivated her to write a book about a high school freshman and his efforts to succeed on the playing fields of baseball and money.

Young readers can learn about sales, marketing, negotiation, budgeting and that true money fairy, compound interest and it won’t hurt a bit while in thrall of the narrative. The book is a Eudora Welty fiction award winner. But heck, aren’t we all young and foolish when it comes to money? For more details, call 508-627-8463.
