Please Adopt Us

Summer is upon us and as usual we have several new cats and kittens at the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard who need homes — won’t you please stop by and see them?

The new cats are Obsinian and Ananda, who are both beautiful. Obsinian is an all-black neutered male who is extremely affectionate; his friend Ananda is a yellow tiger, a spayed female who is a little shy. But it won’t take her long to become accustomed to all the love at the shelter for these homeless cats. Cookie is a really beautiful, friendly calico female and Cleo also is a female calico. We have three darling kittens who will be ready for adoption soon. Longtime residents include Cyrus, the all-black cat who has become so attached to us all that we will really miss him when he finds a new home. Binx, Blackie and Dolly are three other black cats; Miss Misty is a petite gray tiger who must be an only cat; Angel is a handsome part-Siamese with blue eyes; his pal Olive is a sweet tortoiseshell with a bobbed tail; Phoebe is the other orange and white kitty; and last but not least is Gracie, a long-haired gray who loves to curl up in a corner or on your lap. And we still have Louise, the guinea pig who loves to be held and petted, and is waiting for just the right child to come and take her home; she has her own cage.

The shelter is no longer affiliated with the MSPCA, although we are in the same building as the old MSPCA and still have the same telephone number: 508-627-8662. If you have an animal emergency (a found cat or dog or a missing animal) please call the animal control officer in your town, who can be reached through the communications center at 508-693-1212. The shelter does not handle animal emergencies but if you call we will point you in the right direction. Shelter hours are Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
