Frank Foltz, the owner of Sundog, a men’s clothing store in Edgartown, hasn’t been around much. Instead of greeting his customers at the store, the active 77-year-old entrepreneur has been spending his time up in Jones Falls, Ontario, running a recently acquired 133-year-old historic hotel.

The Hotel Kenney, which comprises a number of buildings and even a small concert hall and docks, is being revitalized as one of the community’s top attractions.

Jones Falls is a summer resort with an expansive waterway. Its streams and waters are full of wild trout and, in some places, chinook salmon. There is a fish sanctuary, and one of the great attractions is Whitefish Lake. Mr. Foltz said there is a lot of bass and pike nearby.

Mr. Foltz, a second-generation guest, purchased the hotel three years ago. He and his wife, Beverly, have had a home near the hotel for many years. He has owned the Sundog for 30 years.

The work at hand has been enormous. Speaking by telephone, Mr. Foltz said the work involved in refurbishing the 30-room hotel has included carpentry, plumbing and electrical work. For now, 16 rooms are open. The 26-acre property includes 11 buildings and 1,000 feet of waterfront. There is a 150-seat concert hall.
