The Union Chapel opens this Sunday with the Rev. Dr. Dorothy Watson Tatem as the guest preacher. This is her third visit and the beginning of the 140th season of Union Chapel. The chapel is located in Oak Bluffs at the south end of Kennebec and Circuit avenues. An organ prelude by Garrett Brown begins at 9:40 a.m.; the service is at 10 a.m.

Dr. Tatem is the district superintendent of the east district of the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church, and oversees the ministries of 72 churches located in northeast and northwest Philadelphia and in parts of Bucks and Montgomery Counties. Her sermon title is The Moment.

Dr. Tatem is active in community affairs promoting women entrepreneurs, faith-based organizations, and spiritual rejuvenation among her talents. She is a trustee of Albright College in Reading, Pa., and volunteers as a mentor to African-American students on campus.

Union Chapel welcomes all to its nondenominational services during the summer. A new handicap access ramp has been installed at the Kennebec avenue entrance.
