Four Martha’s Vineyard students were among the 26 Falmouth Academy seventh and eighth graders inducted into the junior National Honor Society on Sunday, May 16.

They are Eli Hanschka, the son of Nancy Tutko and Whit Hanschka; Nathaniel Horwitz, the son of Geraldine Brooks and Tony Horwitz; and Jackie Menton, the daughter of Julie and Paul Menton, all of Vineyard Haven; and Aidan Huntington, the son of Susan Reidy Huntington and Peter Huntington, both of West Tisbury.

They join more than 80 current members of Falmouth Academy’s senior and junior honor societies, including Vineyarders Julia Guérin, Sarah Antolick, Emelia Armstead, Clea Baumhofer, Lily Cronig, Kinsman Maynard and Niole Nelson.

Membership is based on a student’s character, academic achievement and community participation.

Falmouth Academy senior Lagan Trieschmann, son of Beth and Stephen Trieschmann of Vineyard Haven and a current member of the senior National Honor Society, spoke about service and citizenship at the induction ceremony.
