In Performance at the White House: A Celebration of Music From the Civil Rights Movement in honor of black history month will be live-streamed on Feb. 11 at 8 p.m. at the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center, courtesy of the social action committee and the program committee.

The concert will include performances by Jennifer Hudson, Natalie Cole, John Legend, John Mellencamp, Seal, the Blind Boys of Alabama, and the Howard University Choir. It will be hosted by Morgan Freeman and Queen Latifah, and will feature songs associated with the civil rights movement as well as readings from famous civil rights speeches. The concert is the latest event in the White House music series started last year by Michelle Obama.

This event is being held in memory of historian Howard Zinn, whose life was dedicated to social justice.
