The Martha’s Vineyard Hospital announced this week that it will delay the opening of its new facility by about two months due to the fact that finish work is proceeding more slowly than expected. The primary culprit is adhesive being used on the flooring; the hospital is using a nontoxic adhesive which takes longer to cure. And the flooring must be completed before other finish work is done.

“We’ve just discovered that it’s not that easy being green,” said development director Rachel Vanderhoop yesterday.

A special gala planned for donors to the hospital capital campaign has been postponed to April 10. A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the general public is now planned for April 11.

Ms. Vanderhoop said notices were sent to donors who received invitations to the gala, originally planned for early February.
