After-Christmas Carol

’Tis the season for song, tinkling bells and, of course, familiar Christmas stories of love, loss and redemption. What better time to enjoy A Christmas Carol? On Sunday, Dec. 27, BravEncore (the non-profit organization supporting high school performing arts) presents an adaptation of the classic titled A Christmas Story in One Act, by Cora Wilson Greenwood (in agreement with Samuel French, Inc). Returning alumni and current students of the high school theatre department will perform two shows on Dec. 27, at 4 and again at 6 p.m., upstairs at David Ryan’s Restaurant in Edgartown.

Tickets are $10, or $5 for students and seniors. This benefit performance, geared towards an all-ages audience, supports the BravEncore Drama Troupe’s August 2010 trip to the Festival Fringe in Edinburgh, Scotland, where they have been invited to perform. The prestigious Fringe has been the largest international theatrical event in the world since 1947, and the honor of an invitation is not something to be ignored. Unfortunately, getting there is not cheap, and so fund-raising events such as this one continue. For details, or to purchase advance tickets, call 508-696-8991.
