Tech Center Dedicated

To Professor Terry Jewett

Paraphrasing the late Prof. Terry Jewett, who thought that every day was a great day for sailing, family, friends, colleagues and students gathered Nov. 17 in the student lounge of Monroe College in New Rochelle, N.Y. to dedicate the Jewett Technology Center and to celebrate the life of the popular IT professor who died suddenly, May 3, 2009, while cycling in Camden, Maine.

Nov. 16 would have been Mr. Jewett’s 66th birthday.

Students and colleagues spoke lovingly of their memories of Mr. Jewett, whether it was his opinions on just about anything, his mentoring, his penchant for heavy homework assignments or his intolerance of too-wordy PowerPoint presentations.

His widow, Carla Feldman Jewett, spoke eloquently of his love of his work, his students, the Monroe Lady Mustangs and, of course, of sailing.

Joining her for the dedication of the Monroe College Jewett Technology Center, which is located on the second floor of Monroe College’s New Rochelle campus’ main hall, were Prof. Jewett’s sisters, Rebecca Jewett Rendall and Darcy Jewett.
