Edgartown outer harbor is clear, calm. A light stiff southwesterly breeze and Herreshoff sailboats have an early season race off North Neck. The afternoon is mostly sunny. Lawnmowers are roaring in Oak Bluffs. Early season swimmers at State Beach. Rainbow before sunset at Quansoo.

Sunday, June 28: Partly sunny. Skies darken. Light rain arrives in Vineyard Haven in the afternoon. Undeterred bicyclists speed along the bicycle path in the drizzle. Clouds of fireflies light up the evening along East Chop.

Monday, June 29: Light rain shower. Skies clear. Daylilies are in bloom in West Tisbury. Farmers pick tender lettuce greens. Moon hangs over Tisbury Great Pond.

Tuesday, June 30: Mostly cloudy. Periods of sunshine. Light breeze. Memorial Park is lush with fresh cut grass, nicely trimmed hedges and blossoming impatiens. Calm water in Edgartown harbor.

Wednesday, July 1: Cloudy. Main street Edgartown is decorated with banners and American flags. Menemsha is bustling with the arrival of boats. Menemsha market boat Jane Lee leaves the harbor mid-afternoon, loaded with fresh fish. A squall line darkens the western sky. A heavy line of showers passes over the Vineyard at 3:30 p.m. Light cool breeze, with plenty of rain. Night in mid afternoon. Heavy rain, light breeze. Cooler. Rainbow hangs over Edgartown harbor. Mostly cloudy night.

Thursday, July 2: Heavy shower catches breakfast crowd on Circuit avenue in Oak Bluffs. Thunder roams the streets of Edgartown, echoing off buildings in the late morning. Ping pong-ball-sized hail falls heavily in Oak Bluffs, setting off car alarms. Evening arrives before lunch. Dark.
