The hand-carved sign formerly at the entrance of the Lambert’s Cove Inn and Restaurant in West Tisbury was stolen Saturday night or early Sunday morning, and the owners of the inn are offering a reward for the return of the custom-made marker, valued at $2,000.

Manager Andrew Roth said he last saw the sign standing Saturday night around 9 p.m. as he returned to the inn. He noticed it missing the next day around noon. Mr. Roth said owners Scott Jones and Kell Hicklin replaced the sign about six months ago after a motorist accidentally hit it and knocked it down.

Mr. Roth alerted West Tisbury police Sunday afternoon. The inn is offering a $200 reward for the safe return of the sign or information leading to its safe return, Mr. Roth said. “No questions asked. You can leave it in front of the inn or along the road. We just want it back,” he said.

Anyone with information may contact the West Tisbury police at 508-693-0020 or the Lambert’s Cove Inn at 508-693-2298.
