Chilmark Potluck

A community potluck will be held at the Chilmark Community Center on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 6:30 p.m. The focus will be on farming, farm to school gardens and farming education in the schools. Several farmers will share their experiences in the area of education. Sam Levin and Natalie Akers of Mount Monument High School in Great Barrington will speak. Sam Levin is one of three co-founders, along with Sarah Steadman and Natalie Akers, of Project Sprout, an organic, student-run garden on the grounds of their high school. Now in its second year, Project Sprout supplies the school’s cafeteria with fresh fruits and vegetables, helps feed the hungry in the community and serves as a living laboratory for students of the Monument school system.

Bring a dish to share made of one local ingredient if possible and a place setting for everyone in your group. Bring your own bottle. For information call 508-645-9068.
