Ann-Therese Ortíz, associate pastor at Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church in Philadelphia, Pa., will preach this Sunday, August 3 at 10 a.m. at Union Chapel in Oak Bluffs. The non-denominational chapel is at the south end of Circuit avenue.

Active in the faith-justice community, Ms. Ortíz is committed to making explicit the links between spirituality and social justice. She also works with several regional faith-based institutions in the arenas of cross-cultural ministry, racial and economic justice, social justice education, multicultural awareness, and social analysis.

Though actively engaged in ministry as associate pastor, Ms. Ortíz’s full-time employment centers on her work in direct service and non-profit administration at Philadelphia Futures, a comprehensive college success program for low-income students attending Philadelphia’s lowest performing, least resourced public high schools.

Ms. Ortíz holds a specialized master’s degree in risk and prevention from Harvard University and a master’s degree in holistic spirituality and spiritual direction from Chestnut Hill College.

Union Chapel welcomes visitors of all faiths. Organ music by Garrett Brown precedes the worship service starting at 9:40 a.m. More information is available by calling 508-693-5383.
