Tax time is usually suffered in private. The Oyster Bar Grill aims to make the task more communal and enjoyable, particularly for those who collect social security benefits and otherwise would not have to endure IRS forms at all.

This year, thanks to the federal economic stimulus package, a rebate of $300 or more will be sent back to most taxpayers, even those who collect social security.

To receive a tax rebate check, you have to file a 2007 tax return (for most people, this would be Form 1040A). You can file a return online at IRS.gov or at AARP.org.

If you prefer to file a manual return, forms can be found at IRS.gov. If you have already filed a return but failed to report your social security benefits, you can file an amended return using Form 1040X.

Or the Oyster Bar Grill at 57 Circuit avenue in Oak Bluffs will be open tomorrow, Saturday, April 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for people to stop by and pick up tax forms. There also will be complimentary beverages and snacks, to make the filing process a little more pleasant. The deadline for filing with the IRS is Tuesday, April 15.
