Lambert's Cove color transitions from green to yellows and russets. Timothy Johnson

The rhythms on the Vineyard shift as the winds change to the northeast. You can taste it in the October air on that last bracing sail before the boat goes into storage for another season. You can hear it in the recessional song of the Canada geese, honking southbound, and you can see it in the bright red of poison ivy vines along a favorite path. October’s clock slows and invites us to savor the moment.

We have been Island visitors since the 60's. Owned 2 homes there actually lived full time on the Island for 7 years. Every picture brings back a moment on this magical place that we enjoyed for so long. It always will have a place in our heart and we feel privileged to have had the experience. My children and grandchildren spent their summers there and gained a respect for the Island Life that they want to return to with their families. Leaving this special place was so hard but we promised ourselves a return. Where else can you go to a movie on Saturday night and recognize most of the people in the audience?
