Q: When is your site updated?
A: The week’s news is updated every Friday morning approximately 6:00 a.m. Eastern time. From June through August, when the Gazette is published Tuesday and Friday, the site is updated on both of those days, again at approximately 6:00 a.m. Eastern time. Breaking news stories are updated throughout the week as current information becomes available.

Q: Do you post all of the content from the print edition online?
A: Almost the entire content of the print edition is available online to our online and print subscribers, as well as to the general public over the age of 13 during special promotions. Exceptions include certain advertisements, puzzles, and other content that we are under contract not to post online.

Q: When are the classified ads updated?
A: Our classified ad database is updated on the same schedule as editorial material is updated, on the same publication schedule as the printed Gazette. Ads placed through The Vineyard Gazette print classifieds department will remain on the site for the same number of days that they run in print.

Q: How do I place a classified ad online?
A: When you place your ad with the print classifieds, your ad will be posted online at no additional cost. For an additional charge, you may order Web enhancements to make your ad stand out online. At this time we do not sell Web only ads.

Q: How do I make a correction to my classified ad?
A: Corrections to classified ads can be made by calling our classified advertising department.

Q: How do I access classified ads that were published more than a week ago?
A: The classified ad database is updated with each publication of the print Gazette, and the ads are retained online on that schedule. To find ads published prior to the current week, please visit your public library’s periodical archive for a copy of our print edition. Locally we have back copies available to peruse or purchase at the Edgartown office of the Gazette.

Q: How do I search for a past story?
A: You can search by keyword or browse archived editions of the Vineyard Gazette by date. At this time, our archive contains top stories from January 2000 to present. Our librarian is the best source for information about a past story, and public libraries on the Island have past copies of the Gazette available on microfilm.

Q: How do I find an obituary?
A: Start at our Obituaries page to locate obituaries on individuals during the current week as well as recent obituaries. From this page, you can also search our archives for obituaries published since May, 2001. For obituaries published prior to May, 2001, please visit your public library’s periodical archive or contact our librarian.

Q: How do I purchase a back issue of the print edition?
A: You can purchase a back issue by sending an e-mail to
subscribe@mvgazette.com or calling (508) 627-4311. Issues are available for one year prior to the current date.

A: Please send all comments and requests regarding home delivery to subscribe@mvgazette.com. Locally you can call (508) 627-4311, or toll-free within the U.S. at 1 (877) 850-0409.

Q: How do I submit an event for the calendar listings?
A: You may email calendar items to calendar@mvgazette.com or submit a calendar listing online. Be sure to include the location of the event, price, times, a contact number available to the public and a contact person for verification purposes. Calendar listings should be received at least 7 days in advance to be considered for publication.

Q: How do I submit a news release?
A: You may email news releases to news@mvgazette.com or submit a news release online. If you have a breaking news tip to report, call our office at 508-627-4311. Be sure to include your name and contact information so we can reach you with questions.

Q. How do I submit a Letter to the Editor?
A: You can email letters to the editor to news@mvgazette.com or use our online submission form. Alternatively, you can mail or fax your letter to the editor. In all cases, letters must include your full name (no initials), home address and daytime and evening telephone numbers for verification. If you have questions regarding your letter, please call (508) 627-4311.
